Bird Rjúpa by Íslandsfuglar
kr. 4.990
Rjúpa, rock partridge (Lagopus muta eða L. mutus), is the only bird from the gallinaceous group that lives wild in Iceland. The partridge is a resident bird and the male is sometimes called a rook, while the female is called a hen or partridge.
The partridge changes its color according to the seasons and its winter color is white, but in summer it is brown and mottled. The partridge is herbivorous and lives on leaves and berries in the summer, but in winter it seeks out evergreen leaves and surf. It is found throughout the country and is most common in Þingeyjarsýslar.
The Rjúpa bird comes in a paper giftbox with Icelandic and English information. Each bird is unique.
