Bird Lóa by Íslandsfuglar
kr. 4.990
Lóa, European golden plover (Pluvialis apricaria), is among the first migratory birds to arrive in Iceland and its first appearance is in early April.
It is a medium-sized wading bird and considerably smaller than the gannet. Lóa is a fast flyer and can also cross quickly when running on land, and is perhaps best known for its song that it sings during the breeding season – “dírrin-dí” or “dírðin-dírðin”. The loon leaves the country quite late in the autumn and remains here until the end of October, when it heads south and spends the winter months also in the British Isles but also goes south along the coasts of France and Portugal.
The Lóa bird comes in a paper giftbox with Icelandic and English information. Each bird is unique.
