We start the day at Íshestar farm where we saddle up and go for a classic horseback riding adventure. We will explore the lava surrounding Mt. Helgafell volcano while riding through vast lava fields and across beautiful hillsides to Lake Hvaleyrarvatn. As we ride through this stunning scenery you will have the chance to see all of the different formations in the rough lava. The horses stroll along perfectly safe riding paths with the beautiful Bláfjöll Mountains towering above on the horizon. After the horse riding portion of the day, we will have a nice lunch to refuel for our next ATV adventure.
We will find our 650 cc CanAm Outlander max Quad bikes waiting outside our base in the outskirts of Mosfellsbær town. We will start the ride on a gravel road along scenic lake Hafravatn before heading up a mountain trail to the top of Hafrafell. Upon arrival at the top of the mountain awaits an amazing panoramic view of the entire Reykjavik area and its surrounding mountain range. Mt Úlfarsfell, Reykjavik, the bay area, and the Reykjanes Peninsula all offer a beautiful atmosphere worth the trip. Driving these powerful machines is a great way to explore the hills and mountains on the outskirts of the city.
The Silfra Fissure is one of Iceland’s most desirable snorkeling spots. On the surface, this narrow channel of blue water meanders through a giant lava field, beneath active volcanoes and sprawling glaciers, next to the founding site of the world's oldest existing parliament. Below, supernatural shades of blue, perfect visibility, and incredible rock formations make up a magical sub-aquatic chasm. From the comfort of a warmly insulated drysuit, enjoy the feeling of ultimate serenity and weightlessness as you drift peacefully along with the lazy current, awe-stricken at the spectacle in the depths below! Frequently rated as one of the worlds top ten dive sites, the Silfra offers up to 100 meters of underwater visibility and is located on top of the separation between Europe and America!
We start with a visit to the world under the great lava field in the Blue Mountains where you get the chance to witness how the volcanoes created Iceland. This is an amazing hike through an ancient underground lava tube. After the hike we drive onwards to Gullfoss, the undisputed queen of Icelandic waterfalls. Gullfoss is truly a great sight with water rushing down three steps of lava layers exhibiting breathtaking power and grandeur. After a short lunch stop we head to the geothermal area of Geysir, home of the erupting hot spring. Here, you will get the chance to watch the heated water gurgle, bubble, and escape the ground with enormous force up to 25 meters high. Our last stop will be the famous Þingvellir National Park (en. Parliament Fields). Þingvellir is a UNESCO world heritage site and the original birthplace of the oldest existing parliament in the world. It is a beautiful park that is also the place where the tectonic plates of America and Europe meet with a clearly visible rift valley.
Here is your chance to hike an immeasurably magnificent Glacier. This trip will take you to the frozen glacial tongue called Sólheimajökull. It is a rugged, raw and ever changing hub of ancient frozen water- truly a phenomenon. On this tour we will explore the crevasse riddled outlet glacier. With its amazing ice formations, sinkholes and jagged ridges, it is truly an unforgettable experience. We will walk along the beautiful glacier and also test our ice climbing skills. We will provide you with all the tools you need: ice axes, crampons and safety lines. On our return journey to Reykjavik, we will stop at the beautiful waterfall, Skógafoss. On this trip you will be enriched with a unique experience along the ICE-landic glacier.
